SMTP Configuration for Gmail
For this to work, the broker needs to first setup their Gmail account to activate sending emails through our server. Steps are provided below. You will need to generate an App password for Sherlok. For this to be enabled, you need to turn on your 2-Step Verification Code
Sign in to your Gmail Account
Click the Google Apps icon located at the top right of your window
A new window will open that will take you to your Google Account Settings. Click Security
It will take you to a new page that has all your Security info. Scroll down and look for Signing in to Google >> 2-Step Verification
The following screen should pop-up. Click the Get Started button.
It will prompt you to re-enter your Gmail password for security purposes
The setup should begin then. You need to enter your mobile number (see below sample). Make sure you have your phone with you as you’d need it to get a verification code to complete the next steps.
It will then ask you to enter the code sent on your mobile number. Click Next after.
When it’s all good, you’ll see the following screen. Click the Turn On button to proceed.
You will then be redirected to the 2-Step Verification Dashboard. Click the Back icon to go back to the Security Setting.
The App Password option will now be visible. Click that option and you’ll be prompted to re-enter your password again to navigate to the next step.
When the App passwords window loads, you need to generate an app password for Sherlok. Click on Other for the Select App option.
After clicking Other, a new field will appear that will ask you to enter the App Name. Please enter Sherlok. Click Generate.
You should see a pop-up that will show the Generated app password. Use this password for the Sherlok Email send configuration.
