SMTP Configuration for Yahoo
To send emails via Sherlok, set up your Yahoo Mail’s SMTP server for secure email communication by creating a dedicated application password. This guide explains how to generate a unique password for your app to comply with Yahoo's updated security requirements.
How to Create an App Password for Yahoo Mail
To configure Yahoo Mail’s SMTP server, you’ll need to set up a unique app password. Previously, your regular Yahoo Mail password could be used, but now Yahoo has enhanced its security protocols and requires a dedicated app password.Follow these steps:
- Open Account Settings
Log in to Yahoo Mail, click your username or profile icon in the top-right corner, and select Account Settings. Then, go to the Account Security tab. - Generate App Password
Scroll down to find the Generate app password option below the Phone Number for Two-step verification. - Label Your App
Select the dropdown menu to choose an app or select Other App to type a custom name for the password, such as “Sherlok” or “CRM.” This will help you remember which app the password connects to. Then click Generate password. - Copy the Password
The app password will be displayed—copy it carefully, as you’ll need it to set up the Yahoo Mail SMTP settings in Sherlok. Click Done when finished. - Configure in Sherlok
In Sherlok, navigate to the email send configuration tab and paste this app password into the password field to complete your setup.
